I have just received new stock of Elemental, the price has increased by $4 so I am sorry but I had to put my price up slightly.
Bumgenius Elemental V3 (newest version) is an all in one nappy with an inner core of very soft organic cotton. It is perfect for parents who love the great bumgenius fit and want an easy to use all in one nappy but want something natural and organic next to their babies skin. The BumGenius Elemental is ultra soft and remains soft even in hard water areas.
The NEW BumGenius Elemental is super absorbent and made from certified organic cotton. The better design means fewer leaks and an ultra-trim fit. It has a generous sizing which will accommodate most babies and you can easily tuck any insert inside nappy for custom absorbency. The snaps are durable and have the trademark 3×3 snap down design which adjusts the sizing to small, medium and large sizes (approximately 8-35 lbs.) Lovely trim, snug and comfortable stretchy tabs gently flex around your baby. Made in the United States
It really is highly absorbent which is something many all in one nappies aren’t. This means you don’t have to change this nappy any more frequently than you would a two part nappy. It has 2 layers of absorbency but rather than these all being sewn together and making a really slow drying nappy, parts of the inner absorbency are only sewn at the front and back. This allows room for an additional booster if necessary (it shouldn’t be) but also speeds drying as more air can circulate around the layers.
The Elemental has the stretchy tabs Bumgenius is famous for, these help ensure a snug fit. The nappy fits birth to potty (9-35lbs) and is easily adjusted into three length settings by using the poppers on the front body of the nappy. There is no need to keep buying different sizes as this nappy will easily fit most children birth to potty. The nappy only comes in popper fastening and i found this a little fiddly on a small baby as it was harder to get the nappy snug enough, however once baby was bigger it was no longer a problem. Realistically i think these fit best from 10lbs.
My Opinion – The Bumgenius Elemental is just as easy as a disposable, no stuffing the nappy and no separate wrap required. It doesn’t have an inbuilt fleece liner (ie the nappy will be a bit wetter next to your babies skin) so you have the choice of either using paper liners or a separate fleece liner, or if you’d prefer, just leaving it as it is. Despite what advertisers claim most babies are not bothered by a wet nappy and it does not cause nappy rash. This is a very popular nappy with a great fit, great absorbency and is beautifully made. It is a real selling point that there are no extra bits, chuck in the bucket, machine, line and on your baby, no stuffing, unstuffing or hanging out small bits!
Lots of questions too, regarding how it compares the Bumgenius V5 and Freetime. Here are the main differences –
a) drying time – the Freetime takes 5 – 6 hours, the V5 pocket is the quickest around 4 – 5 hours, and the elemental takes the longest 9- 11 hours).
b) bulk on a newborn baby – the Bumgenius V5 Pocket is slimmer fitting on newborn babies because you can remove one of the boosters and just use one inside instead of two. With the Freetime and Elemental the boosters are attached and cannot be taken out so you have to have all the bulk from the word go. Saying that though both the Elemental and Freetime are still relatively slim fitting for birth to potty cloth nappy).
c) ease of use, with the Freetime and the Elemental there is no stuffing or unstuffing of boosters after use, when hanging out to dry and when putting back together, so the Freetime and Elemental are a bit easier and less time consuming to use.
Our Tips – The Bumgenius Elemental is suitable for night time use for most babies apart from very heavy wetters and you can use bamboo boosters to increase the absorbency.
Washing – wash between 40° to 60°. Washing and Care – please read carefully our full ‘washing and care instructions’. All nappies and wraps must be washed according to our care instructions otherwise the manufacturers guarantee will not be valid. All new nappies must be washed before they are used. Please note that when buying a large number of cloth nappies you should just wash a few in the first instance, and check you are happy with your choice, as I cannot refund on used or washed nappies. This nappy can be tumble dried on a low heat, however it is advisable to only tumble dry occasionally as it does shorten the life of the nappy and of course cost you more..
