Why Use Washable Nappies ?
You can save £££s if you use washable nappies and that includes the washing costs
Modern washable nappies are easy to use, look and feel fabulous and are very little extra work
They leak less. Disposable nappys can literally explode poo up the back and down the legs. Nothing beats a good washable 2 part nappy for containing the explosive poo of young babies.
Children in real nappies tend to toilet train on average around 6 months earlier than those in disposables.
You are much more in tune with your baby's weeing capacity in washable nappies which is a big advantage. In the early days by reassuring you that your milk has come in if you are breast feeding because your babys' nappy will be wet (inside the waterproof layer of course!) The dryness of a nappy can also alert you if your baby is unwell as not weeing is usually a precursor to illness. In a disposable nappy you simply have no idea as they always feel dry!
8 million nappies are thrown away in Britain every day and 90% of those end up in Landfill where the conditions are no good for biodegrading. The larger part of conventional disposables are synthetic and not biodegradable. Each baby will use between 4 -6000 nappies and these will fill about 160 black bin liners.
Used correctly a washable nappy will not only save on waste but on energy consumption too, and that is taking washing into account
