TotsBots PeeNut pads /inserts are made of Bamboo.
The bamboo fabric is the same as you find in the incredibly popular and long term bestseller Bamboozle Stretch Nappy. Each PeeNut pad consists of two separate pieces which can be used separately or poppered together for an older child or for more absorbency. They come in just one size however one of the pads is smaller than the other/
- Small PeeNut pad can hold 210ml
- Big PeeNut pad can hold 270ml
- Both PeeNut pads used simultaneously holds up to 480ml
- Oekotex certified – no harmful chemicals next to your babies skin
The PeeNut inserts secure with a set of poppers into the PeeNut wrap so they can’t move around. The PeeNut pad and the PeeNut wrap together form what is known as the PeeNut Nappy system which is classed as an ‘all in two’ system. However they are sold as separate items and if you are looking to use then you should think of buying one PeeNut wrap and 4 or 5 PeeNut Pads
Although the PeeNut inserts are officially designed to be used in PeeNut wraps they work very well as booster or inserts in other wraps and nappies. They could be used with the Bumgenius Flip wrap, which, like the PeeNut wrap, has folds at the tummy and back which the inserts can easily be tucked into and used in the same way as they are with the PeeNut wrap.
In my 0pinions – The PeeNut Nappy system is an excellent and relatively low cost nappy system, as long as you do not buy a wrap for every pad. It is a great for day time use but I think most parents will find a shaped bamboo nappy with separate outer wrap (in particular the motherease airflow works much better at night time. As a day time nappy it is very easy and you can take a spare wrap and couple of spare inserts out with you for quick and simple changes. Being a flat nappy there is a small issue with containment and you will probably find you go through more wraps than you do with a shaped nappy. This issue is more pronounced on younger babies when their poo is so runny! TotsBots put a lot of thought into their nappies and as such their products are of excellent quality and made to a high standard. They are a UK based company so if buying British is important to you then TotsBots, Bambino Mio and Little Lamb are all UK companies.
My tips – You may want to use fleece liners to keep your babies bottom drier as the pad can become very wet.
Washing and Care – please read carefully our full ‘washing and care instructions’. All nappies and wraps must be washed according to our care instructions otherwise the manufacturers guarantee will not be valid. All new nappies must be washed before they are used. Please note that when buying a large number of cloth nappies you should just wash a few in the first instance, and check you are happy with your choice, as I cannot refund on used or washed nappies. This nappy can be tumble dried on a low heat, however it is advisable to only tumble dry occasionally as it does shorten the life of the nappy and of course cost you more.
TotsBots care recommendations are as follows:
- Avoid vinegar, sodium bicarbonate and other harsh stain removers.
- Bamboo will need approx. 10 washes to reach full absorbency.
- Do not use fabric softener
- Line dry or tumble dry on a cool setting.
- Wash at 40 degrees for wet, 60 degrees for soiled with non bio powder.
