Lavender oil has many uses with cloth nappies and it is one of the few essential oils that is completely safe to use around babies.

Use in the softener draw when washing, use in the bucket/pail to help with ammonia smells.  Make up sprays or lotions to use with your washable wipes, or add a few drops to the bath to relax and aid sleep for parents and babies !  The large size 60ml bottles will last for ages because you need so little

WASHABLE WIPE LOTION RECIPE

  • 1 x camomile tea bag (0r 1 x drop of camomile oil)
  • 1 x cup of hot water
  • 1 x teaspoon oil (Coconut oil, olive oil or baby oil)
  • 1 x teaspoon baby bath or shampoo
  • 1 x drop of Lavender Oil

Brew the camomile teabag in a small amount of hot water (50ml) and allow to cool, then add the oil and baby shampoo and lavender oil.  Store in small jar or spray bottle and use within two weeks.

Newborn to 6 weeks

NICE (the clinical excellence guidelines followed by midwives) recommend that only water is used to cleanse your baby during the first 6 weeks of their life which is why they recommend cotton wool and water.   We used lavender oil on our babies from birth with no ill effects but that was our choice and the clinical guidelines are there for a reason so please bear this in mind.

6 weeks and above

Add 4 -6 drops of essential oils to 500ml water
